Disco Inferno
Date - May 2023
Role - Set Designer & Head of Construction
Venue - Theatre-on-the-Hill, Amersham
As the final major project for my production arts course at college, I chose to have the role of set designer on a major musical we were putting on, called "Disco Inferno".
My design incorporates elements of 1970s nightclub design, whilst also allowing for the practical requirements of a musical with 15 cast members, and quick changes of location throughout the script.
I worked alongside a brilliant production and creative team to bring this design to life. Being set in a nightclub, there were lots of technical elements which needed to work in the space and with the performance.
For this project I created a 1:25 scale model of the design, as well as relying a lot on SketchUp due to its powerful sharing capabilities. Using SketchUp also allowed me to experiment with a piece of rendering software called Twinmotion to create photo-realistic renders of the digital model.
I was lucky enough to have this model & design featured in the Origins Creatives 2023 exhibition presented by UAL Awarding Body at The Truman Brewery in London.
